Sadly DVD players typically make lousy transports for CD playback. Speaking of DVD audio, we have all seen the Musical Fidelity E624, but the identical looking E61 makes a good transport - and I am sure we could get a decent list of other under $500 CD players which make killer budget transports.

: I have a Pioneer DV-414 DVD connected to an EAD Ovation PreAmp/Processor via a digital coax cable. For CDs, can I do better, under $600, than this DVD player as a transport? Perhaps I should wait for DVD-Audio?
