Loud Hum from Yamaha RX-V793

I have two thoughts. The obvious is a problem with your receiver, which is likely to be something minor as an internal ground connection. The other depends on your system... do you have a powered subwoofer connected (I assume you do) or a recorder (video or audio) connected to a record output? If so, disconnect them one at a time and note if the hum goes away.

I suspect the first thought - but let's rule out a defective component connected to the system first.

: I have a problem with my Yamaha receiver. Whenever the balance switch is approximately in between the 11:00 o'clock to the 1:00 o'clock position, the receiver generates a loud low level hum even if the volume switch is set to off. I also experience the same problem when I activate the tone controls and increase the bass. I hope somebody out there can give me a hand in determining the cause of this HUM.
