Alexander,

The NAD 533 is a Rega Planar 2 with a MDF platter - so it has a basic strong heritage, respectable arm and indeed will not run a Grado cartridge as it also has the Rega hum problem. The Goldring cartridge included to make it "unbox and play" is basically a backup unit which you could keep for that reason or sell it.

The plus I have seen of the NAD 533 is the discounted price you can find it for if you do some serious digging. I have seen it listed in the $300 area a couple times - making it the same cost as the Music Hall MMF-2 (ditto on the even cheaper Goldring Elan cartridge it comes with - a spare only).

The MMF-2 is another option to consider if you can't find a discount on the NAD.

: I want to play with different setups and need an inexpensive turntable for the base. Any input on NAD 533 would be appreciated.
: Thank you.
