Alan:

Thanks for the info, the fixer-upper part doesn't look like much fun (I've got the cover off), but the end result sounds like it could be worthwhile (maybe I will be blessed...). You must have a wealth of info based on a great interest in audio, I suspect. How about a JVC S600 Mark II receiver (even bigger and heavier than the other and also recently acquired)?
I do have an ulterior motive, not dissimilar from many other individuals, I'm sure, in planning to use one (two?)of these receivers in conjunction with my 25 year old MITSUBISHI separates and a yet-to-be procured processor-included DVD player to create a "home theatre". Not only do I not wish to procure specific A/V equipment at this time, but furthermore, I rather like the stuff I've got. I do realize that matching response, levels, etc. will be fun (!), but, hey, what the heck!

Cheers,
Art

: Art,

: Talk about a heavenly find(g). Your newfound treasure is rated at 125w/ch and was built between 1984 and 1987 with a retail price of $850. If it powers up but no relay closes, the receiver most likely has a shorted amplifier output device, and the silence is the overload protection doing it's job. Sounds like a nice fixer-upper at least.

: Good luck,

: Alan

: : I recently acquired a used TECHNICS SA1010 receiver - quite fancy and rather heavy - big supply. Although some lights are on, there may be nobody home.
: : It was very reasonable and apparently worked when sold (to me) at a church bazaar(!). Since I know nothing about it and have not, todate, found any info, but am certainly intrigued, can anyone help?
