: I want to make up my own interconnect cables using Intercomp RG58A/U, 20 : awg stranded core & shielded, type CL2 50 ohm. Is this cable ok to use, will I get good sound quality from them? I believe it is silver coated copper strands. : Thanks....John get the purest silver you can get (min 99.9% or fine) 28 guage or thinner. thread this though teflon sheathing. twist the pair and secure with a wrap of the teflon plumbers tape to keep it from unraveling. attach connectors and be amazed. also using three strands and braiding (ala kimber) also works well. 1 hot and 2 grounds. i've been doing this for friends for years (usually finishing them up with some kind of covering to hide the teflon tape). They will stare down $250+ cables. YMMV ;-)
