Andy, I suspect a problem with your system. By any chance is your receiver older, and perhaps you are using the tone controls or loudness compensation? Try this... return all controls to the "flat" setting, then disconnect all external equipment. Now listen to the tuner via the speakers and the headphones. I have worked on receivers where corrosion has caused peculiar operation of the tone control section - in particular the loudness switch can cause exactly what you are having happen. A problem with a record output connection and component can be a cause as well on many receivers. Good luck, Alan : Hello! : I've noticed something that I never noticed before. When I'm watching movies thru my stereo system (plain stereo) I notice that the left channel carries more high frequency sound while the right channel carries more low frequency sound. So even when a low frequency sound (such as a person with a low voice speaking) is localized on the left side of the picture, the sound will more dominantly come out of the right side because of its low frequency nature. I thought that this was due to my stereo sytem so I tried hooking up my boombox and it was the same thing. Infact, I've noticed that this is the case for all things stereo that I have whether it be listening to the radio, watching TV, listening to CD's. Why is this? I thought low and high frequency sound was suppose to be equally outputed to both channels?
