left and right channels in stereo

Hey Thanks for the reply...

I tried a few things that you suggested. My system is indeed old. My system does have a "Loudness" function that I had on. I turned it off and set the "Treble" and "Bass" dials to flat and unplugged the VCR input.

When I listened to the tuner using the speakers, I'm still getting a lot of treble in the left speaker and a lot of bass in the right.
However, when I listen using my headphones the sound is more balanced. I can't really tell whether one has more treble or bass than the other.

So I guess the problem lies with the speakers? Or is it a problem with the receivers output?
